Biscuits & Cookies
Did you know you can freeze both baked biscuits (cookies) and the unbaked dough. This is how you freeze them both.
Baked Biscuits (Cookies)
Preparation
Freeze baked biscuits (cookies). Those with high-fat content freeze the best.
Packaging
Pack the cooled biscuits in a labelled and dated bag or container. You may wish to separate each with foil or greaseproof paper.
Thawing
Thaw in the containers for 30 minutes at room temperature. If it is necessary then you can refresh them for 5 minutes in a fairly hot oven.
Storage Time
6 months
Unbaked Dough
Preparation
Roll the unbaked dough into a cylindrical shape. Alternatively, pipe or shape them onto a baking sheet.
Packaging
Wrap the cylindrical shape in foil.
Open flash freeze the piped or shaped dough until solid.
Pack in a labelled and dated bag or container.
Thawing
For the cylindrical dough, soften for 30 - 45 minutes in a refrigerator and then slice off and bake according to the recipe.
The piped or shaped biscuits can be baked from frozen. Remember to leave extra baking time though.
